The eleven students of 4e under the guidance of Régis Farinet, their technology teacher, won this time the 1D place of the Technobot academic competition, category “colleges”, this Friday at the Jean-Mermoz gymnasium in Yutz at the end of an intense and emotional day. After the 2e place won last year, Argon college students confirm their appetite for the competition and the subject.
Technobot is a competition that “mobilizes the skills of students to design, produce, test and develop a robot that meets clear and precise specifications. The teacher guides and supervises but undertakes not to intervene on the robots of his students”.
If last year, all the students were not able to go to Yutz because of the pandemic, this time, the whole team made the trip to Moselle where the college gymnasium, transformed into a robotic park, welcomed the paddocks of the twelve participating establishments and the various competition areas.
The competition consists of four rounds. That of “Online Followers” is to follow an increasingly complex line. That of “presentation” highlights living foreign languages, where the designers explain the stages from the creation to the programming of their robot, as well as the reflection that has been brought to its design. In the “design” test, the jury assesses the appearance and usefulness of the robot and “the robot formula” pits two robots against each other in a speed race on a closed track.
Only candidates from Meuse
The results came in at 3 p.m. The students and their coach Régis Farinet found in Yutz the just reward for their work of the year, taking every Thursday during the midday break to prepare for this challenge. Only candidates from the Meuse, Arthur, Jason, Manon, Candice, Romane, Lucie, Théonie, Lily-Rose, Nathaël, Alec and Vincent can be proud of their performance… A great performance!
It is the rankings obtained by the young Meuse residents in the various events that have earned them first place in the Technobot challenge.
