Triditive and Foxconn develop additive manufacturing system with Binder Jetting technology

The Taiwanese electronics giant foxcon partnered with the Spanish company triditiveleader in the development of automated industrial additive manufacturing machines, to develop a revolutionary binder injection 3D printer.

Binder jetting technology, also known as binder injection, belongs to the group of “powder bed” or “sintering” additive manufacturing technologies. The process involves placing layers of metal powder, where the particles are joined by the selective deposition of binder through a print head.

The process is repeated layer by layer, for a subsequent sintering process in the furnace -where the binder is burnt-, which makes it possible to obtain metal parts with very complex geometries.

The primary benefit of the technology that Foxconn and Triditive are developing is production scalability and cost reduction in manufacturing complex metal parts for end-use applications.

Development of binders and selection of metals

For the development of “binders”, Triditive collaborated with Tecnalia, the research and technological development center of the Basque Country (País Vasco). And, for the selection of metal powders, with the famous German technology center Fraunhofer.

Binder jetting technology introduces a new, faster way to create metal parts in an additive process compared to existing technologies. To do this, the inkjet printheads offer a high level of precision, making it possible to reproduce the smallest details.

New horizons in additive manufacturing

Foxconn is one of the biggest companies in the technology sector. Foxconn produces devices for giants such as Apple, Sony and Intel, among many others.

Among its sectors of activity is 3D printing, a market in which it has been developing for years and which continues today, with Triditive, with the design of new additive manufacturing equipment.

Triditive has patented AMCELL and brings automated additive manufacturing machines to the factory, features that have made it the ideal partner for Foxconn.
