Forbes has just updated its ranking of the richest people in the world. The American business magazine now counts a total of 19 billionaires from the cryptocurrency world in his list. On April 5, 2022, Forbes also devoted a full article to these 19 entrepreneurs who became extremely wealthy thanks to crypto-assets. Here is the full list:

Topping the list of crypto billionaires is unsurprisingly the founder and CEO of BinanceChangpeng Zhao. According to information from Forbes, Zhao has a fortune of 65 billion dollars. Thanks to the colossal success of his cryptocurrency exchange platform, he has established himself as the richest individual in the industry. According to Forbes, “CZ” is also the 19th richest person in the world.

The second place is occupied by Sam Bankman Friedthe founder of the exchange FTX. The entrepreneur established himself last year as the second richest person under 30 of all time, just behind Mark Zuckerberg. With the development of its platform, which has just opened a subsidiary in Europe and Australia, Sam Bankman-Fried has a fortune estimated at 24 billion dollars.

In third place on the podium is another cryptocurrency exchange founder, Brian Armstrong. The leader of Coinbase has a fortune of $6.6 billion. Thanks to its 19% stake in the platform, listed on the stock exchange since April 2021, Armstrong stands out as the 357th richest individual in the world.

Note again the presence of Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, in ranking. Convinced of the future of the queen of cryptocurrencies, he pushed his company to build up a reserve of 129,218 bitcoins, or $6 billion. His fortune is estimated at $1.6 billion.

Forbes records 58% increase in crypto billionaires in one year

Last year, the Forbes ranking still only counted than 7 billionaires from the cryptocurrency industry. This is an impressive 58% increase that speaks to the galloping rise of the digital currency industry.

Among the newcomers to this prestigious ranking are Gary Wang |co-founder and chief technology officer of FTX. Thanks to his 16% share in the company, the manager relies on a fortune estimated at 5.6 billion dollars.

Nikil Viswanathan and Joseph Lauco-founders of Alchemy, the Web3 development platform, are also among the new crypto-billionaires. Finally, we should also mention the arrival of Devin Finzer and Alex Atallahco-founders of the leader of non-fungible tokens (NFT) OpenSea, in the Forbes ranking. The two entrepreneurs took advantage of the wave of NFTs to raise $2.2 billion.
