The Fiat 500 is the best-selling electric car in April

The electric car market continues its unbridled growth. In April, 12,692 models were registered in France, an increase of almost 33% compared to last year. A good performance compared to the global automotive market, which fell by 22.6% over the same period. “The eleventh consecutive monthly decline since June 2021”, notes the firm AAA Data. The market share of 100% electric vehicles has now reached 12%, which still seemed unimaginable a few years ago.

In April, it was neither the Tesla Model 3 nor the Renault Zoé that finished at the top of the best-selling models in France, but a small Italian: the electric Fiat 500. It sold 1,737 units according to data provided by AAA Data to Capital, ahead of the Dacia Spring (1,568 units) and the electric version of the Peugeot 208 (1,375 units). The Renault Zoé only comes in fourth position (1,052 units), ahead of another French: the Twingo E-Tech (948 units). Finally, note the presence of the Kia EV6, recently voted European car of the year, in this top 10.

The Tesla Model 3 remains the best-selling since the start of 2022

From January to April, 56,198 100% electric vehicles were sold in France, which corresponds to an increase of 40.3% compared to the same period in 2021. The Tesla Model 3 retains the advantage (6,646 units sold), a short head ahead of the Dacia Spring (6,521 units). However, the latter should quickly take precedence over the American following the price increase recorded last month, which removes the Model 3 from the eligibility criterion for the ecological bonus of 6,000 euros.

The Peugeot e-208 completes the podium ahead of the electric Fiat 500, which passes the Renault Zoé. A blow for the diamond brand, while this model occupied second place in 2021.
