Pilot scheme for market infrastructures based on distributed ledger technology

The Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2022 on a pilot scheme for market infrastructures based on distributed ledger technology has been published in Official Journal of the European Union of June 2, 2022.

This establishes requirements for market infrastructures based on distributed ledger technology (DLT) and their operators regarding:

  • the granting and withdrawal of specific authorizations to operate DLT market infrastructures;
  • the granting, modification and withdrawal of exemptions related to these specific authorizations;
  • the imposition, modification and withdrawal of conditions attached to exemptions and the imposition, modification and withdrawal of compensatory or corrective measures;
  • the operation of DLT market infrastructures;
  • monitoring of DLT market infrastructures; and
  • cooperation between operators of DLT market infrastructures, competent authorities and the European Securities and Markets Authority.
