The parents of 12-year-old Shiloh are denouncing medical errors after their daughter died of breast cancer.
“Doctors Told Us Breast Cancer in 12-Year-Olds Doesn’t Exist“. The mother of Shiloh12, has always been told the same thing by the medical profession when she mentioned the possibility that the redness and pimples on one of her daughter’s breasts could be of cancerous origin. It is however a cancer in the breast which carried the young girl last December.
“The doctors found other explanations by telling us, for example, that the swelling and redness in the left breast were due to a scratch from our cat.“, explains his mother Diane Diakity.
It was in April 2021 that the mother detected redness and swelling on her daughter’s left breast. “I saw her when she was in her bath and decided to take her to see a GP. He advised me to have an ultrasound.she recalls.
Very quickly, the parents come up against generalized incomprehension in the medical profession. “We went from meeting to meeting. Some advised us to treat it with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics, others to see a dermatologist “. The mother also notes that apart from the family’s general practitioner, no health professional performs a palpation of her daughter’s left breast.
After months of treatments without results, Shiloh is admitted to Argenteuil hospital. She comes out ten days later without further explanation. It was not until August 2021 that the diagnosis of breast cancer was made. ” At this stage of the tumour, the referring doctor in Shiloh told us that it was no longer operable. We understood that it was too late and we blame all the members of the medical profession who sent Shiloh from service to service to finally arrive at this stage where nothing more could be done“, laments Diane Diakity.
The parents want to file a complaint against all the doctors who refused to prescribe tests for their daughter. For Modibo Diakityfather of Shiloh, denounce medical wanderings on the part of the various services. “At no time did I feel that the medical staff did everything to save my daughter“, he protests.
For the couple’s lawyer, Me Sabine Doucinaud, the objective of the procedure is to “understand the responsibility of each health professional, find out why they refused to look for other possible diagnoses.”
