Monkey pox: 18,000 cases of Monkeypox worldwide, WHO asks men who have sex with men to “reduce the number of partners”

The World Health Organization held its weekly briefing this Wednesday with a very special request.

This Wednesday, during its weekly briefing, the WHO announced that the bar of 18,000 cases worldwide had been crossed.

Its director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned “risks” of the virus and “necessary measures to curb its transmission”. According to the Ethiopian expert, one in ten cases required hospitalization.

98% of cases are men who have sex with men

If everyone can be affected by Monkeypox, man and woman, it turns out that 98% of those infected today are men who have sex with other men. So, the director of the WHO had a very special request for them: “Reducing the number of sexual partners, reconsidering new partners and exchanging contact details just in case”.

For now, theSpain is the most affected country in the world with 3,595 cases. In France1837 cases were confirmed by Public Health France on Wednesday.
