Expired vital card: beware, this Health Insurance SMS is a scam!

You may have received the following message on your phone: “Health insurance: expiry of your vital card, to be updated quickly”? Health insurance repeats it loud and clear, a vital card never expires! Yet this is what scammers try to make believe through an SMS scam.

An SMS that also includes a redirect link to a fraudulent site, which uses the graphic charter of Health Insurance. You are then invited to fill in a series of information: surname, first name, email address, postal address but above all credit card number.

The technique of phishing on the internet

We then explain to you that these bank details will be used to bill you for the cost of sending the new vital card, for an amount between 0.95 and 4.90 euros. This scam uses the well-known technique of phishing, or phishing in English.
