Elon Musk announces on Twitter that Tesla products can now be purchased in dogecoin, DOGE climbs 15% | Elon Musk, Tesla, Twitter

Elon Musk took to Twitter to announce that Tesla customers can now purchase the company’s merchandise with Dogecoin.

SpaceX, the space builder also led by Musk, will also allow goods to be paid for with DOGE in the near future.

The leading electric car maker announced that its customers could start purchasing select items, including the Cyberquad for Kids, with meme cryptocurrency in January. However, it now appears that all products will be able to be purchased with Dogecoin.

Dogecoin price instantly jumped 15.8% on announcement, before giving up some gains. DOGE climbed to $0.09 after slipping as low as $0.076 earlier in the day on the Binance exchange.

This is the second time Musk has tweeted about his favorite cryptocurrency in the space of 24 hours. Yesterday, his tweet only managed to push the price of Dogecoin up for 26 seconds, before cutting all the gains.

While the price of Dogecoin has seen a catastrophic move in 2022, Musk, who remains the richest person on the planet, is helping to keep it afloat. In March, the Tesla boss confirmed that he had not sold the meme currency.

The tech mogul is also in the process of acquiring Twitter, which is seen as a bullish move for Dogecoin. Elon Musk has suggested adding DOGE as a payment option on the influential social media platform so users can pay for their premium subscriptions with meme currency.
