DRC: the Vodacom Congo Foundation launches its 12 heartfelt impulses to transform thousands of lives through technology

The Vodacom Congo Foundation announces the official launch of its annual program called: “The 12 heartfelt impulses of the Vodacom Foundation”.

This initiative aims to improve the living conditions of Congolese people through technology in the following four areas: education, health, well-being, and inclusion for all.

Indeed, an élan de coeur is defined as the set of activities that the Vodacom Foundation launches in a Region. And this year, in particular, it will be a question of launching 12 élans de coeur, in 12 regions of the DRC, for 12 months, from April 2022 to March 2023. The regions concerned are as follows: Kinshasa, Kongo Central, North Kivu , South Kivu, Kasaï-Oriental, Kasaï-Occidental, Bandundu, Province-Orientale, Equateur, Maniema, Katanga and Lualaba.

For the execution of this major annual program, each month, the Foundation will reveal the name of the Region where the activities will be launched.

Access for all to quality education

Worldwide, more than 250 million children still do not have access to school. Yet education is one of the most effective ways to fight poverty, improve health and advance gender equality. It is also a powerful factor of change, social stability and long-term economic growth of a country.

To mark its mark, Vodacom Congo has planned several initiatives:

– The construction of 36 new digital classrooms across the country, 12 of which will be financed by Vodacom Congo employees;
– The launch of the “Vodaeduc scholarship” for young girls who want to progress in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics);
– The implementation of the “Vodacom Exetat scholarship” program for university studies.

Good health for vulnerable people

In its heart, to contribute to the improvement of the health of the Congolese, Vodacom Congo will launch various projects, in particular:
– The first aid service to help victims of road accidents;
– The online blood donation center;
– A support plan for women suffering from endometriosis and obstetric fistula.

The well-being of disadvantaged populations

Many Congolese face a precarious situation due to the lack of adequate housing, lack of drinking water, difficulties in accessing healthy food, as well as appropriate health care. Thus, these harsh conditions are detrimental to their social, physical, emotional and financial well-being.

Through the “Care and Share” campaign, this year, Vodacom Congo will meet the vital needs of these populations through various initiatives, such as: the construction of water boreholes, the renovation of hospitals, the construction of shelters for the homeless and others.

The social inclusion of women, albinos and people living with disabilities.

Regardless of gender, race, culture, profile, color or disability, everyone deserves to develop their potential, like all of us.

As a company that supports inclusion for all, to promote and develop the potential of this category of people, the Vodacom Foundation has resolved to launch the following initiatives:
– Project to empower women with disabilities and albinos;
– Project to connect women to the Mum & Baby platform to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate in the DRC.

Nearly two decades have passed since the Vodacom Foundation embarked on improving the living conditions of people in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Through its many initiatives, the Vodacom Congo Foundation has invested several million dollars to help the poor and vulnerable, in order to restore smiles and dignity to the needy, especially in times of crisis.

The Vodacom Congo Foundation contributes tirelessly to the socio-economic development of individuals and communities through the use of the latest advances in the field of New Information and Communication Technologies (NTIC).
