Carlo Ancelotti on Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid): “I have not always been fair”

On the sidelines of the King’s Cup round of 16 tie against Villarreal (Thursday 9pm), Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke about the status of Eduardo Camavinga. In the Spanish Supercup, the former Rennais was replaced at half-time in the semi-final against Valencia (1-1, 4-3 on penalties) and then at half-time in the final against Barça (1-3).

“Against Valencia it was a tactical substitution. He played well, I just changed him to avoid ending the game at ten o’clock (Camavinga had been warned) », said the Italian. As for the fight against the Catalans, “It is true that there could have been better in the defensive aspect, but I changed it to put more players in front”explained the former PSG technician (2011-2013).

Ancelotti has full confidence in Camavinga

Nevertheless, the 20-year-old France international can count on his coach’s confidence, even if the latter admits to having him wrong from time to time. “He does his job well, I still have a lot of confidence in him. It’s true that I took him out twice at half-time… I wasn’t always fair to him. But the confidence is total. And tomorrow he will bring a lot to the team, as always.”he assured the vice world champion.

Against Villarreal, Carlo Ancelotti could experiment with Camavinga as a guard.
