Another conclusive test of extremely fast charging

Recently, StoreDot successfully conducted a live demonstration of its super fast charging battery technology, capable of delivering 100 miles in 5 minutes of charging. The demonstration took place at EcoMotion Week 2022 in Israel and was broadcast live to a global audience. The latter brings together the main car manufacturers, including General Motors, Volvo, Ford, Continental, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and Hyundai. What is StoreDot?

What exactly happened?

The demonstration featured a 300x100mm pocket cell produced at EVE energy’s manufacturing facility in China. The battery was charged within 10 minutes, during which the cell charged to 20Ah, exceeding the 0% to 80% capacity target set for the demonstration.

The cell maintained a charge rate capable of adding 100 miles of range for every 5 minutes of charging. At no time did the battery temperature exceed 33 degrees Celsius, well below the operating temperature recommended by StoreDot engineers and all critical cell parameters performed at optimum levels.

What will change next?

As illustrated by the ambition of the company, the idea is of course to allow a greater peace of mind among EV owners. Indeed, the anguish of the breakdown is one of the brakes for its development!

Unlike thermal cars whose pumps are located here and there, the charging stations did not bloom as the fervent defenders of the electric expected. Which is a shame because today it is what penalizes its expansion.
