After Tesla, SpaceX should soon accept payments in Dogecoin, but the news seems to generate less enthusiasm than for Tesla.
Just four months after electric vehicle maker Tesla began accepting payments in Dogecoin (DOGE) for its derivative products and certain accessories, Elon Musk announces that he intends to do the same with his company dedicated to space exploration , SpaceX.
SpaceX expected to accept payments in Dogecoin soon
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has been a strong supporter of the DOGE ecosystem since 2019. The American multi-billionaire has repeatedly expressed his interest in accepting payments with this memecoin in his various companies.
Historically, Elon Musk’s pro-DOGE tweets had a very positive immediate impact on the coin’s value in the market, with investors wanting to ride the hype at that particular time. That being said, the recent revelation of SpaceX’s willingness to accept DOGE payments for certain derivatives has had no significant effect on the value of the coin as the crypto market trend is very pessimistic.
But the news seems to arouse less enthusiasm than for Tesla
Additionally, data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that DOGE lost over 55% of its value between May 8 and May 13, trading at the time of this writing at $0.08077.
In December 2021, DOGE had gained 25% after Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla would accept DOGE for its merchandise and accessories. Around the same time, the entrepreneur shared his views, arguing that DOGE was a better everyday payment option than Bitcoin (BTC).
If things now go as planned, Elon Musk could even start accepting DOGE payments for Starlink subscriptions.
The American multi-billionaire had recently issued a public warning about a scam in which hackers used deepfake technology to use the entrepreneur’s image and promote crypto scams. First shared on Twitter, Elon Musk’s deepfake video promoted a crypto platform promising 30% returns on crypto deposits.
