A first case of monkey pox has been detected in Normandy

Cases of monkeypox continue to increase in Europe. The Public Health France organization confirmed, in its update of Wednesday May 25, 2022, a new case in Normandy. No additional information makes it possible to determine which department is concerned. This is the seventh case identified in France, including four in Île-de-France, one in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and one in Occitanie.

What are the symptoms ?

Symptoms of monkeypox are known: first fever, often high, accompanied by headaches and body aches. After about two days, rashes develop, until they form scabs on the skin. Most often, this disease heals spontaneously, in two to four weeks.

If until now the cases seem isolated, this virus is monitored very closely by the health authorities. Like Covid-19, it can be transmitted from one person to another by the droplets that humans secrete (saliva, sneezes, sputters, etc.). It can also go through impregnated fabrics.
